40s Father Fined for Assaulting Friends Who Bullied His Son
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A father in his 40s who struck friends bullying his son has been sentenced to a fine.
Ulsan District Court announced on the 8th that it sentenced A (46), who was indicted for violating the Child Welfare Act, to a fine of 4 million won.
The court stated, "It is judged that the victim child's intention is included in the fact that the victim's parents, as legal representatives, do not wish for punishment," but also said, "Physical abuse that caused injury to the child's body or harmed the child's health and development was committed."
It added, "Although the degree of assault was not light, since it is a first offense and the defendant admitted the crime and is reflecting on it," and explained the sentencing reason, "Since the violation of the Child Welfare Act was recognized as guilty, a fine is imposed."
On March 9 last year, A heard that his son was being bullied by some friends and called his son's friends B (16) and C (17) to his home in Jung-gu, Ulsan, around 10 p.m.
