Increase in Comprehensive Real Estate Tax for Multi-Homeowners: 'Support' 53.5% vs 'Oppose' 41.4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion survey revealed that more than half of the people support raising the comprehensive real estate tax for multi-homeowners or speculative housing owners.
According to Realmeter's announcement on the 9th, following a survey commissioned by tbs on the 8th regarding strengthening the comprehensive real estate tax on multi-homeowners, 53.5% responded 'in favor,' 41.4% responded 'against,' and 5.1% answered 'don't know.'
By region, support was higher in Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (support 59.0% vs opposition 39.0%), Gwangju·Jeolla (58.3% vs 36.8%), Gyeonggi·Incheon (54.8% vs 42.3%), and Daegu·Gyeongbuk (50.0% vs 41.3%). In Seoul and Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong, support and opposition were nearly equal.
By age group, support was highest among those in their 40s at 65.4%, with over half of respondents in their 20s and 50s also in favor. Conversely, in the 30s, 60s, and 70 and older groups, support and opposition were evenly split.
By ideological inclination, support was high among progressives at 74.6%, with opposition at 22.4%. However, among conservatives, opposition was 65.7% and support 30.6%, showing a contrasting pattern. Among moderates, support was 53.6% and opposition 45.3%, with more respondents in favor.
By political party support, 83.0% of Democratic Party supporters were in favor, while 70.9% of United Party supporters opposed, showing opposite results. Among non-affiliated voters, the 'don't know' response was 23.1%, 18.0 percentage points higher than the overall average of 5.1%.
This survey contacted 8,764 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, resulting in a 5.7% response rate. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
