Wonkang University and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Participate in AI Leading Model Development Project
The Only Consortium Institution in Jeonbuk
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] On the 6th, Wonkwang University in Jeonbuk announced that it will participate as the only consortium institution from Jeonbuk in the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Establishment of Leading Models for Industry-Academia-Government Linked Commercialization Projects.'
According to Wonkwang University, it plans to collaborate in establishing the AI Integrated Research and Industrial Complex Special Zone, linked with major universities and research institutes in the Honam region, under the project titled 'Establishment of a Leading Model for Commercialization Cooperation of AI-based Convergent and Complex Technologies,' led by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology.
This project aims to revitalize a regional diffusion-type convergence technology ecosystem connected to the region's strategic and specialized industries, and through cooperation between universities and research institutes, to discover promising technologies in new industrial fields required by the market and link them to startups.
Wonkwang University's AI-based convergent and complex technologies are expected to drive innovative growth in the Fourth Industrial Revolution by establishing a commercialization cooperation system for AI convergence technologies related to smart factories, control systems, and mobile traffic information systems, in line with the government's AI industry-focused development strategy.

A university official stated, "Wonkwang University plans to support the discovery and commercialization of promising intellectual properties that will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution," adding, "This achievement is expected to have a positive effect by expanding Wonkwang University's scope of activities as the only institution from Jeonbuk participating in projects led by major universities and research institutes in the Honam region."
