Busan City has decided to operate a psychological program that provides systematic professional help for youth at risk of suicide and self-harm.
On the 5th, Busan City announced that the Busan Youth Counseling Welfare Center was selected as a pilot operation center for the "Youth Suicide and Self-Harm Intensive Psychological Clinic" contest held by the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute.
Starting in July, professional counseling will be provided through the psychological clinic for youth experiencing impulses toward suicide and self-harm. Various linked services such as psychological testing and youth companion matching will be offered.
The program aims to verify the effectiveness of counseling programs for crisis situations such as suicide and self-harm within the local community and establish a counseling operation model to conduct systematic counseling activities for youth in crisis.
If you are experiencing difficulties related to youth issues such as suicide and self-harm, you can apply for counseling anytime at the Busan Youth Counseling Welfare Center to receive help. Currently, there is one city center in Busan along with 15 district and county centers operating.
Jeon Hye-sook, Director of the Busan City Women and Family Bureau, said, "Recently, youth suicide and self-harm have emerged as serious social issues. We hope to contribute to the prevention of suicide and self-harm in advance by providing professional help," adding, "We will continue to provide various support for the healthy growth of youth."
