Wonkwang University Retired Faculty Volunteer Group for 'COVID-19' Donates Development Fund
Collected Meal and Transportation Expenses for 10 Volunteers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] The 'COVID-19' volunteer group, composed of retired faculty and staff from Wonkwang University in Jeonbuk, donated 10 million won, which they saved on food and transportation expenses during their volunteer period and added personal funds, to the university development fund on the 2nd.
According to Wonkwang University on the 3rd, the volunteer group organized themselves after hearing that the university lacked personnel to support self-quarantined international students. Since February, they set up booths inside the self-quarantine facilities for Chinese international students and carried out volunteer activities for about 100 days, including support for international students and overseas arrivals in quarantine.
In particular, 10 members of the volunteer group recently completed their volunteer activities and received a commendation related to COVID-19 from the mayor of Iksan, becoming a role model.
