Hydrogen Economy Supporters Launch Ceremony Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 3rd that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 1st Hydrogen Economy Supporters. The award ceremony for the 2nd Hydrogen Energy Awareness Contest was also held.
The event was conducted by the Hydrogen Economy Promotion Task Force (TF), an organization involving the government, local governments, related agencies, and private experts.
The supporters are responsible for widely promoting hydrogen economy policies and safety management status. Most of them are in their 20s. They will be active from today until the end of October.
They will tour hydrogen charging stations, fuel cell power plants, and companies such as Korea Gas Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company.
The contest was held in six categories: illustration, UCC, card news, photography, policy proposals, and free submissions, receiving 272 entries.
After evaluation by the judging committee and public voting, 40 winning works were selected.
The Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award was given for the "Policy Proposal for the Activation of Hydrogen Energy Use."
The proposal included ▲expansion of hydrogen energy use in companies and factories ▲benefits for the public using hydrogen energy ▲benefits for hydrogen vehicle users ▲research funding support.
Specifically, it suggested ▲mandatory installation of fuel cells in new buildings and factories ▲electricity bill reductions and free safety inspections for households with fuel cells ▲discounts on insurance and fuel costs for hydrogen vehicles ▲research funding support mainly for small and medium-sized enterprises.
"Wise Use of Hydrogen Vehicles" received the Korea Safety Corporation President’s Award.
The idea included ▲smarter expansion of hydrogen charging stations ▲mass stocking of parts, development of domestic repair personnel, and research for parts localization ▲improvements to apps related to hydrogen charging stations.
Main points were ▲expansion of pipelines centered on hub charging stations ▲securing parts inventory, training repair specialists, and conducting localization research ▲developing applications to check hydrogen vehicle malfunction status and waiting times in real time.
"Hydrogen Electric Vehicle with Blue Sky and Sea" won the Korea Energy Agency Chairman’s Award.
In the UCC category, "New Driving Force for Innovative Growth" received the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance Chairman’s Award.
Meanwhile, 5,600 people participated in a survey on hydrogen energy and the hydrogen economy conducted alongside the contest.
The survey results showed a positive perception of hydrogen energy from an eco-friendly perspective. It was expected to play an effective role in vehicle fuel and other areas in the future.
The supporters’ content and contest-winning works can be found online through the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance website, Facebook, YouTube, and offline through local community briefings and exhibitions.
