9 Confirmed Cases in Gwangju in One Day... All Contacted Agape Silver Center Caregivers (Update)
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Nine additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Gwangju.
On the 1st, Gwangju City announced that nine additional COVID-19 confirmed cases had occurred. All of them were identified as close contacts of a woman in her 50s, patient A, who works as a caregiver at the Agape Silver Center in Dong-gu.
Among the nine additional confirmed cases, seven had contact with patient A during a worship service at Gwangju Sarang Church on the morning of the 28th of last month, and the remaining two were residents who had contact with patient A at the Agape Silver Center.
After patient A tested positive on the 30th of last month, the quarantine authorities closed Sarang Church and implemented quarantine measures. They also placed the Agape Silver Center under cohort isolation and conducted diagnostic tests on a total of 49 people, including 26 residents and 17 staff members of the facility.

The authorities plan to transfer the confirmed patients to a university hospital equipped with nationally designated inpatient treatment beds. Additionally, the remaining residents and staff who tested negative will be quarantined for two weeks, considering the incubation period.
