Busan Office of Education, 245 Early Retirement Applicants by End of August 2020
60 Public Elementary, 44 Public Middle, 32 Private Middle School Teachers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has finalized the list of teachers eligible for honorary retirement at the end of August this year. Out of 245 applicants, 136 were confirmed.
The retirees include 60 public elementary school teachers, 44 public secondary school teachers, and 32 private secondary school teachers.
Including the 593 honorary retirees at the end of February, the total number of honorary retired teachers this year is 729. This number is similar to last year's 731.
The Office of Education plans to flexibly adjust the scale of honorary retirements by comprehensively considering the demand from those wishing to retire and the teacher supply and demand conditions to stabilize the teaching workforce.

Jung Seok, Head of the Teacher Personnel Division, said, "Although we could not accept all applicants for honorary retirement this time, we will try to accommodate as many as possible in the future, considering the budget and teacher supply and demand situation."
