Hwasun-gun Issues Public Notice Banning Gatherings and Demonstrations to Prevent COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 1st that it has issued a notice banning assemblies and demonstrations around major facilities following a series of small-scale COVID-19 cluster infections.
According to the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act, the county prohibits assemblies around 21 major facilities including the county office.
The notice is effective from this day until the COVID-19 situation ends.
Violators, including organizers and participants of prohibited assemblies, may be fined up to 3 million won.
This is the second assembly and demonstration ban notice following the one issued in March.

A county official stated, “Due to concerns about a nationwide second wave and the presence of group living facilities such as nursing hospitals, pneumoconiosis patients, and elderly patients in the region, the assembly ban was issued as a preventive measure. We ask for the understanding of the residents as this is an unavoidable decision to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in advance.”
