[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 1st that it will support 'Smart Factory Dedicated Coordinators' to build customized smart factories and strengthen smart capabilities for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies lacking information and communication technology (ICT) expertise.
The Smart Factory Dedicated Coordinators were selected last month through 19 Manufacturing Innovation Centers nationwide, with a total of 318 individuals chosen. They are ICT experts in the manufacturing field with on-site experience and technology related to smart factories.
They will closely support everything from project planning and diagnosis to follow-up management of the application projects, playing a role in increasing the utilization and construction performance of smart factory solutions.
The Smart Factory Dedicated Coordinators will begin their activities from the 2nd. They will assist with various consulting services to advance smart factories, including after-service support, and will lead the continuous spread of smart factory achievements.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups is promoting the distribution of 30,000 smart factories by 2022. Through public-private cooperation, 12,660 units were distributed by last year. The distribution target for this year is 5,600 units.
