[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), in-person classes were suspended at 44 schools nationwide on the 30th.
The Ministry of Education announced that as of 10 a.m. that day, 44 schools had adjusted their in-person class schedules.
The number of schools suspending in-person classes has increased for four consecutive days since the 25th (12 schools). This is an increase of 8 schools compared to the previous day (36 schools).
The newly suspended schools include 14 in Daejeon and 2 in Gyeonggi, totaling 16 schools.
In particular, a middle school 3rd grader and an elementary school 5th grader in Daejeon tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the suspension of in-person classes at their schools.
Eight schools completed remote classes and started in-person classes.
By region, schools suspending in-person classes are 18 in Jeonnam (Mokpo), 16 in Daejeon (Seo-gu, Dong-gu, Jung-gu), 7 in Gyeonggi (Icheon, Ansan, Gimpo, Uijeongbu, Paju), 2 in Seoul, and 1 in Jeonbuk (Jeonju).
