Additionally, a 'Tagless' automatic payment system that allows bus passengers to pay fares without tapping their transportation cards on a terminal will be introduced on some routes within the province around October.
On the 30th, Gyeonggi Province announced the 'Gyeonggi Province Untact (non-face-to-face) Vision and Promotion Strategy,' which includes 42 implementation tasks across three major areas to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era.
The three major areas are ▲ Untact for Convenient Daily Life ▲ Untact for Everyone's Happiness ▲ Untact to Revitalize the Local Economy.
Looking at the detailed tasks, a pilot operation will be conducted for a system where Bluetooth devices inside buses detect signals from users' terminals (smartphones) without passengers having to touch their transportation cards to the fare payment device, then connect to the driver's terminal to automatically process the fare payment.
Initially, this system will be introduced on 14 buses across seven routes including Suwon~Pangyo, Yongin~Pangyo, Yongin~Seoul, and Hwaseong~Jamsil around October. The province will evaluate usage and decide whether to expand the system.
Also, Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation will install a One-pass system in 1,400 housing units it constructed, allowing residents to open shared entrance doors and automatically call elevators via a smartphone app.
Notifications for training and education of 930,000 civil defense personnel will shift from the current direct delivery method through local civil defense captains to an electronic notification system, and legal education for 138,000 transportation workers will be converted to an online non-face-to-face format.
In the administrative sector, a virtual PC remote work system capable of accommodating 4,000 users will be established at the new provincial government office under construction in Gwanggyo, Suwon.
Furthermore, a non-face-to-face Hwaseong learning mentoring program will be promoted, matching university students one-on-one with elementary, middle, and high school students in remote areas who have difficulty with home study or limited access to arts and physical education.
A 'Driving Theater' will also be operated, allowing people to watch canceled performances or independent films with blocked distribution channels in the form of a drive-in theater due to COVID-19.
Other initiatives include free book delivery and collection (children’s book packages), care for elderly living alone using artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), an integrated online job recruitment system for 31 cities and counties, an online integrated shopping mall for small business owners, and the permanent establishment of drive-thru sales for agricultural products.
The province plans to invest a total of 52.1 billion KRW, including 34.1 billion KRW of provincial funds, in these projects and aims to create 5,691 jobs through them.
