[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] The Jeonbuk branch of the National Education Public Officials Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Public Transport Workers' Union has urged the establishment of heatwave countermeasures for workers who clean and serve meals in school buildings and other facilities this summer, when the worst heat is expected.
At a press conference held at the Provincial Office of Education on the 30th, the Jeonbuk branch stated, "Every year, we urge heatwave countermeasures before the heatwave season, but this year, especially due to COVID-19, social distancing is in place, and workers are fighting the heat while wearing masks doubly," adding, "Measures to support the insufficient workforce must be prepared, and before the heatwave arrives, air conditioners should be installed and rest areas where workers can take breaks, even briefly, should be provided."
