Hygiene 'New Normal' in Highway Rest Area Bathrooms... Introduction of Seat Cleaners
Gwangju-Daegu Expressway Gwangju Direction Gangcheonsan Rest Area Debuts
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] On the 30th, Korea Expressway Corporation announced that the Gangcheonsan Rest Area on the Gwangju-Daegu Expressway, Gwangju-bound direction, installed toilet seat cleaners in consideration of the 'new normal' hygiene concept due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Gangcheonsan Rest Area, which is rarely seen domestically and was built using recycled construction waste as recycled aggregate, placed disinfectants next to the toilet seats so that customers can spray the disinfectant themselves. According to the rest area officials, this allows users to clean the toilet themselves and use it with peace of mind, as well as preventing problems caused by excessive use of toilet paper.

An official from the rest area explained, "Considering the current situation where many unspecified people use the restroom and are reluctant to sit on toilets used by others, we installed toilet seat cleaners," adding, "We also judged that this aligns with the purpose of the 'toilet without trash bin' campaign jointly conducted by the Expressway Corporation and the rest area."
