Gwanak-gu Operates 'Urban Agriculture Support Center' for New Urban Farmers
Placement of Urban Agriculture Consultants, Providing Information and Consultation on Urban Agriculture... Contributing to the Revitalization of Urban Agriculture through Various Supports such as Agricultural Technology Education and Supply of Agricultural Materials
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is operating various support programs for urban farmers at the Urban Agriculture Support Center (Gwangsin-gil 142).
The district operates a total of 71 sites covering 28,000㎡ of Seoul-style urban gardens and apiaries, including the largest single-area garden in Seoul, Gang Gam-chan Garden (13,760㎡). In October last year, it established a 15,000㎡ urban agriculture park, becoming a hub for urban agriculture.
Starting this month, the Urban Agriculture Support Center has been installed and operated within the Gwanak Urban Agriculture Park to provide various information about urban agriculture and offer program experiences.
The Urban Agriculture Support Center is staffed with professional counselors holding urban agriculture manager certifications who provide various support services to revitalize urban agriculture, including ▲consultations on crop cultivation, pests, and other urban agriculture-related issues ▲agricultural technology education ▲distribution of agricultural materials ▲garden monitoring ▲operation of urban agriculture-related experience and practice programs.
The district plans to build a foundation for the continuous promotion of urban agriculture activities by operating the Urban Agriculture Support Center, providing opportunities to experience urban agriculture through various support programs, and promoting a community culture of communication and sharing.
The Gwanak-gu Urban Agriculture Support Center operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be accessed by visit, phone, or through the Seoul Farmer Portal.
