[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] New York and New Jersey, which were the largest COVID-19 infection hotspots in the United States but succeeded in controlling the virus, have warned that they may halt the reopening of economic activities and have taken actual measures. This comes as heightened caution followed large-scale infections in states like Texas and Florida that had already begun reopening their economies.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on the 29th (local time) that the scheduled allowance for indoor dining at restaurants starting from the 2nd would be postponed. Governor Murphy had announced the indoor dining schedule on the 26th but reversed the decision just three days later.

Governor Murphy explained via Twitter, "Considering the spread of COVID-19 in other states, we are postponing the timing for allowing indoor dining at restaurants."
Local media reported that Governor Murphy's decision came amid controversy over videos from last weekend showing bars on New Jersey beaches filled with customers not wearing masks.
However, New Jersey decided to proceed normally with the opening of theme parks and casinos scheduled for the 2nd.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also appeared on local broadcasts and said, "To New York City business owners and elected officials: indoor dining at restaurants could be problematic."
He stated, "We do not want to reverse what we have achieved," adding, "We have concerns about malls and indoor dining, and we may consider delaying their normalization next week."
Originally, New York City planned to begin the third phase of economic reopening from the 6th of next month. In the third phase, indoor dining at restaurants, recreational activities, nail salons, spas, and massage shops would be allowed to operate.
Governor Cuomo's remarks are interpreted as putting a brake on the schedule set by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
