Two Confirmed Cases Including a Daycare Center Director in Daejeon... About 1,000 Local Daycare Centers Closed (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Two additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Daejeon.
According to Daejeon City on the 29th, a woman in her 60s, Ms. A, residing in Cheondong, Dong-gu, was confirmed as patient number 112 in the area.
Ms. A was found to have had close contact with 26 people, including her coworkers. On the same day, the city announced that a woman in her 40s, Ms. B, residing in Cheondong, Dong-gu, was confirmed as patient number 113 in the area.
Ms. B was identified as the director of a daycare center located in Daeseong-dong, Dong-gu. Although she had contact with patient number 105 (a man in his 30s from Dong-gu) at Panam Presbyterian Church on the 21st, it was found that Ms. B’s initial symptom onset date was earlier.
The quarantine authorities have ordered the daycare center to close temporarily and plan to conduct a full investigation of 19 children and 5 staff members. A total of 1,203 daycare centers in the city will be closed from the 30th until the 5th of next month.
Additionally, the authorities conducted COVID-19 diagnostic tests on Ms. B’s husband and three children, and notified the academies attended by her children of the situation.
