Bucheon-si Introduces Subscription-Based E-Book Service... Access Over 50,000 Titles Without Waiting
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, is providing a subscription (rental) type e-book service to minimize inconvenience to citizens due to the continued temporary closure of libraries caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation.
The subscription-type e-books differ from the existing collection-type e-books provided by libraries in that there is no limit on the number of borrowers per book, allowing immediate use of popular books without waiting.
Anyone with a Bucheon City library membership card can use the subscription-type e-book service through the website and smartphone app. Each person can rent up to 5 books for 14 days, with a maximum of 7 books rented per month.
Currently, Bucheon City holds and provides about 50,000 titles and plans to update new books every month. In the future, the city plans to continuously purchase collection-type e-books to expand non-face-to-face book provision services.
For more details about the service, please contact the Bucheon City Library website (www.bcl.go.kr) or Sangdong Library (032-625-4542).
