On the 26th broadcast of MBC's 'Study is Money,' Nam Seung-min met his mentor and senior singer Seol Woon-do.
In the broadcast, Nam Seung-min introduced his connection with senior singer Seol Woon-do, saying, "It has been four years since we first met. We met when you came to the Chrysanthemum Festival in Masan."
Seol Woon-do warmly greeted Nam Seung-min and said, "I'm so glad you are doing well. I was actually a bit worried about you."
Nam Seung-min confessed, "I am trying to become a singer-songwriter, but it is difficult, so I want to ask for advice."
Seol Woon-do asked, "What instrument are you learning?" Nam Seung-min replied, "I am playing the piano," and revealed his original song for the first time, saying, "I have recently composed a song."
After listening to Nam Seung-min's original song, Seol Woon-do said, "When you write your first song, the structure often doesn't fit well," but praised, "You did it almost professionally."
He complimented, "The lyrics are pure and suit you well. I think people will like the melody too."
However, Seol Woon-do advised, "The arrangement is a bit ordinary. For sad lyrics, it's better to add a brighter tune. If you make the intro stronger, your song will stand out more."
Seol Woon-do explained, "Feeling as many melodies and lyrics as possible helps when writing songs," and added, "You need to include stories about all situations."
He humbly advised, "When writing a song, just recall that story. I am not someone who graduated from a famous university and then wrote songs. So you can do it too. People like me do it."
Watching this, Yoon Il-sang added, "He gave all the advice possible as a singer-songwriter. Just follow what he said."
