'Photocatalytic Filter' Fighting COVID-19... Selected as an Excellent Innovative Product
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] A photocatalytic filter that fundamentally removes contaminants such as airborne bacteria, viruses, and odor-causing substances included in indoor air by attaching it to indoor air purifiers has been selected as the first excellent research and development innovation product.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 28th that the 'Viro Air Sterilizer,' developed through technology transfer from the Construction Technology Research Institute to the domestic SME Ventek Frontier Co., Ltd., was selected as an excellent research and development innovation product and that support for initial market establishment will be provided.
This product received favorable evaluations because, unlike existing physical filter methods, it fundamentally removes infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses in the air, contributing to the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Subsequently, the Ministry of Science and ICT advanced the review process, originally scheduled for August, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This product will be registered with the Public Procurement Service's Nara Marketplace as an excellent research and development innovation product in the future. The product-owning company can request purchases from the Public Procurement Service or directly enter private contracts with public institutions to sell the innovation product.
In addition to this product, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to proceed smoothly with the review of more than 50 submitted products and complete product designation within the originally planned schedule (August).
