Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education's Good Rent Campaign... Up to 80% Reduction in Closed School Usage Fees
Other Shared Property Usage Fees Also Reduced Until Year-End
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education announced on the 26th that it will participate in the 'Good Rent Movement,' which reduces rent for tenants of closed school properties who are struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This measure follows the revision and enforcement on the 23rd of the Enforcement Decree of the Special Act on the Promotion of Utilization of Closed School Properties (hereinafter referred to as the Closed School Utilization Act), which allows rent reductions for tenants affected by COVID-19.
In particular, not only the rent for closed schools but also the usage fees for public property will be reduced, providing up to an 80% discount on fees and rent for nine months from April to December 2020. The resulting economic support effect amounts to up to 918.5 million KRW.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik stated, "We decided on this rent reduction to share the pain of tenants caused by the spread of COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to take the lead in realizing warm Gyeongbuk education that coexists with the local community."
