[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jung, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated on the 25th regarding the food poisoning incident at a private kindergarten in Ansan, "We will thoroughly investigate the kindergarten where the food poisoning occurred and clearly identify the responsible parties," and added, "We will take all necessary measures to prevent recurrence."
The superintendent emphasized, "As the superintendent, I deeply feel responsible for the occurrence of the food poisoning incident."
He continued, "To ensure that the children receive treatment and recover quickly, the local education support office and the main office will actively support follow-up measures such as medical expenses," and expressed, "I apologize to the children and parents who have been hospitalized and treated for various food poisoning symptoms."
He also promised, "In a situation where society as a whole is struggling with infectious diseases, I apologize on behalf of the entire Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education for causing concern to the parents, and we will make greater efforts for the health and safety of the children."
On the same day, Gyeonggi health authorities announced that 22 children, including those attending a private kindergarten in Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi Province, showed symptoms of food poisoning and were hospitalized.
