[Full Text] Scott Morrison, Australian Prime Minister, 70th Anniversary Video Message of the Korean War
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] I am pleased to be able to honor the veterans of the 6.25 War with you. More than 17,000 Australian soldiers participated in the 6.25 War, and among them, 340 never returned to their homeland. On this meaningful day, I would like to once again affirm that Australia unwaveringly supports the peace and stability of the Republic of Korea.
Both countries, sharing similar positions, believe that as liberal democracies, everyone should be guaranteed the right to be free from oppression. Both nations have upheld the values of a market economy and free trade, witnessing how the coexistence of freedom and prosperity brings change to their countries. South Korea and Australia have built a strong alliance and partnership based on shared values.

On the 70th anniversary of the 6.25 War, we commemorate the importance of this bilateral relationship and extend special thanks to President Moon Jae-in, whom we have met on various occasions. We also pay tribute to approximately 100,000 Korean Australians and will never forget the sacrifices of Australian veterans who defended our allied nation, the Republic of Korea.
