Damyang-gun Operates 'Atopy and Asthma Safe School'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 25th that it will designate and operate 'Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools' focusing on schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers so that children with allergic diseases can live healthily.
The Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools program is conducted annually for the early treatment and prevention of allergic diseases, which are highly likely to lead to adult diseases if appropriate treatment is delayed during childhood.
In addition, 18 kindergartens, daycare centers, and schools in the jurisdiction (9 daycare centers, 6 kindergartens, 3 elementary schools) have been designated as safe schools, and full-scale operation began this month.
For children who need management due to allergic diseases (asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis), not only atopy prevention rules such as not scratching even if itchy, bathing daily with lukewarm water, and frequently applying moisturizers are taught, but also food allergy and nutrition education tailored to the child's level are conducted together.
