Venture and Capital Investors Are Watching 'Geudeul'
Busan City and Korea Financial Investment Association Host Capital Raising Investment Briefing for Innovative Venture Investment Platform
'2nd Must Round' to be Held at Centum Tech Startup Town on the 25th at 2 PM
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City and the Korea Financial Investment Association will hold the 2nd MUST Round, a non-face-to-face investment briefing session (IR), at 2 p.m. on the 25th at CENTAP (Centum Technology Startup Town).
'MUST (Meet, Understand, Share, Trust)' is a venture investment platform for attracting investment in innovative and startup companies, where venture investors such as accelerators and venture capitalists, and capital market investors such as securities firms and asset management companies participate together. It was launched last year and is now in its second year of operation.
The 2nd MUST Round will be held in the form of an online investment briefing session for five promising innovative and startup companies located in Busan to revitalize the venture ecosystem, which has been weakened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The presenting companies will give their presentations on-site, and venture investors including securities firms and asset management companies registered as MUST members, as well as accelerators and venture capitalists, will participate directly in Q&A sessions via an online video platform. Afterwards, they can individually contact the companies for investment screening and in-depth interviews.
The five companies presenting at the MUST Round were selected through a screening by the company selection council composed of Technopark, the Creative Economy Innovation Center, the Economic Promotion Agency, the Design Promotion Agency, and the Information Industry Promotion Agency. They were chosen as innovative technology companies with high potential for rapid growth through investment attraction.
'CENTAP On Air,' used for the event, is a non-face-to-face venture investment platform established by Busan City and Busan Technopark at Centum Technology Startup Town, playing a crucial role in enabling the MUST Round to be held even amid the COVID-19 situation.
The Korea Financial Investment Association expects that even after the COVID-19 crisis ends, online corporate briefings will become an important investment information channel. This event is held through the non-face-to-face venture investment platform 'CENTAP On Air,' and going forward, they plan to continuously promote meetings between companies and the capital market using non-face-to-face platforms to strengthen Busan's position as a financial hub. From the second half of the year, they also plan to expand participating companies nationwide.
Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, "MUST, prepared by Busan City together with the Korea Financial Investment Association, is meaningful as the nation's first investment platform where the venture market and capital market participate together." He added, "The continuous scale-up of startup companies, capital raising through the securities market, and the recovery of funds by venture investors must be achieved through the capital market. We will do our best to make MUST a strong link connecting well-developed startups to the capital market."
