Eunjoong Kim, Mando Responsible Manager, Receives Presidential Citation on 'Invention Day'
[Asia Economy Reporter Woo Su-yeon] Kim Eun-jung, a responsible manager at Mando, received the Presidential Citation at the Invention Day ceremony held on the 24th at the 63 Convention Center in Yeouido, Seoul. Manager Kim, who works in the suspension-related department at Mando, was recognized for his technical expertise in successfully developing Korea's first independent automotive "Electronic Controlled Suspension (SDC)," earning him this citation.
Manager Kim anticipated the importance and scalability of SDC in advance and secured 33 domestic and international technology patents (16 registered) in this technical field. The SDC he designed was first applied to the 2013 Hyundai Genesis and has since been recognized by the industry and consumers for its excellent ride comfort. The SDC, which enhances driving stability, generated sales exceeding 100 billion KRW domestically and internationally by 2019.
In response to the rapidly increasing global demand for SDC, Mando has been expanding its SDC supply business to global automakers in North America, Europe, and other regions since last year. Mando established a suspension and brake production plant in Beijing, China, in 2003 and has signed SDC supply contracts with Chinese local automakers such as Changcheng Automobile (GWM), Guangzhou Electric Vehicle (GANEC), and Beijing Electric Vehicle (BJEV).
