Condemnation of the 'In-guk-gong Incident' at the United Future Party Emergency Committee Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] It has been revealed that the Emergency Response Committee (ERC) of the United Future Party also voiced strong criticism over the 'Incheon International Airport (In-guk-gong) incident,' which angered young people preparing for public enterprise employment.
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the United Future Party, stated at a back briefing of the ERC-senior lawmakers meeting held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 24th, "There was overall condemnation of the government tightening its grip on the youth."
Earlier, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it would convert 1,900 security screening personnel, who are subcontractor employees, into regular workers, which led to a Blue House petition opposing the regularization surpassing 150,000 signatures. Spokesperson Kim said, "There was an exchange of our own opinions regarding the harsh policies targeting the youth."
During the meeting attended by the ERC and senior lawmakers, discussions related to former National Security Advisor John Bolton's memoir also took place. Kim said, "While talking about peace, it was a peace process that confused whether it was for Kim Jong-un's peace or for the peace of North Korean residents," adding, "The United Future Party's Foreign Affairs and Security Special Committee is focusing on raising issues, and there is considerable consensus among lawmakers regarding a state audit related to (Bolton's memoir)." Previously, United Future Party lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun had called for a state audit on the 'Bolton memoir.'
Issues related to the ambiguity of the 6.25 (Korean War) content in educational textbooks were also discussed. Kim said, "There was consensus that we need to examine textbooks that are becoming ambiguous about the fact of the northern invasion in relation to 6.25," adding, "During the German reunification process, West German textbooks were issued at the state level that were full of praise for East Germany. Historical distortion that would please the Kim Jong-un family must not occur."
