Boseong-gun Operates Free Tax Agent Appointment System
Operation of Proxy System Selected by Local Governments... Free Legal Review and Advisory Support by Experts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it is operating a local tax appointed agent system to protect the rights of low-income taxpayers.
The local tax appointed agent system is a program that allows economically disadvantaged taxpayers who have objections to local tax assessments to appoint experts such as lawyers or tax accountants as tax agents to provide free legal review, consultation, and assistance with appeal procedures.
The eligibility criteria for support in appointing an agent are individual taxpayers with a claim amount of 10 million KRW or less, total property ownership including spouse of 500 million KRW or less, and comprehensive income amount of 50 million KRW or less. However, high-amount habitual tax delinquents subject to travel bans or public disclosure lists are not eligible to apply.
To apply, taxpayers must submit an appointed agent designation application form to the Finance Department when requesting a pre-assessment review or filing an objection to local tax.
The county plans to review the applicant's eligibility and notify the result within 7 days from the date of receipt. Eligible taxpayers can receive free assistance throughout the entire appeal process through the appointed tax agent.
