View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] SC First Bank announced on the 24th that it signed an agreement with the Siloam Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to support the establishment of an online electronic book production platform for the visually impaired. This platform is scheduled to undergo beta testing around October and officially open in January next year.
The platform being developed by Siloam this time is designed to minimize existing physical constraints through an online system, allowing anyone to participate in volunteer activities anytime and anywhere. The previous offline method took about 4 to 6 months from recruiting volunteers to training, book allocation, and electronic book production. In the new platform, all processes are integrated online, enabling anyone to participate immediately at any time, and cloud sourcing that allows multiple people to produce the same book together is also possible. This significantly reduces the production period.
SC First Bank donated 20 million won to this platform construction project, and employee volunteers will participate as beta testers in system stabilization work. Also, once officially opened, employees will directly engage in volunteer work producing electronic books for the visually impaired. Since March last year, SC First Bank has been conducting monthly volunteer activities producing electronic books for visually impaired youth together with Siloam. So far, about 1,000 employees have participated in producing around 600 electronic books.
