Over 30 Goryeoin Involved in Mass Brawl at Parking Lot... Police Investigation Underway
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Dozens of Koryo-saram engaged in a group brawl wielding blunt weapons in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Gimhae Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 23rd, around 10:15 PM on the 20th, about 30 Koryo-saram divided into two groups fought using blunt weapons in a parking lot in Buwon-dong, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.
As a result of the riot, A (32), a Kyrgyzstan national, and B (29), a Kazakhstan national, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment.
The brawl was discovered by patrolling police officers just minutes after it started, but the participants immediately fled the scene.
The police arrested 18 people at the scene, including the two injured, and later apprehended an additional eight individuals.
The police are pursuing the whereabouts of the remaining fugitives.
All those involved in the fight are Koryo-saram who have been legally residing in the country for several years after undergoing visa issuance and other procedures.
