On the 22nd, the Cultural Expo announced that a stonechat family nesting in a two-seater electric work vehicle at the Gyeongju World Cultural Expo Park in Cheongun-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk Province, was discovered last month.
An Expo official said that while riding the vehicle, a bird suddenly flew up in front of the car, and upon checking, they found a bird's nest inside the vehicle. The stonechat had built its nest in a corner of the motor room (engine compartment) under the car's front hood and was raising seven newly hatched chicks.
Since discovering the nest, the Expo has not operated the vehicle and has been monitoring the stonechats' condition daily. The chicks have all grown and reportedly left the nest last week.
This story was featured on the SBS entertainment program 'TV Animal Farm' on the 21st, and the official YouTube channel of the program, 'TV Animal Farm X Animal Bwa,' received over 240,000 views and more than 4,000 likes, drawing significant interest.
Meanwhile, the stonechat is a resident bird mainly inhabiting urban outskirts or rural areas, with adults measuring about 14 cm in body length and weighing approximately 17 g.
