This amount exceeds the fundraising total of U.S. President Donald Trump by more than $5 million.
According to major foreign media on the 20th (local time), Biden and the Democratic National Committee raised $80.8 million during May. This is the highest monthly fundraising total recorded by Biden's campaign. In contrast, President Trump and the Republican National Committee raised $74 million (approximately 89.5 billion KRW) during the same period.
With Senator Bernie Sanders, a primary competitor within the party, having withdrawn, Biden has effectively become the nominee and has focused on fundraising over the past several months. Biden's campaign plans to invest $15 million this week to launch its first large-scale TV advertisements targeting states that President Trump won in 2016, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina.
