On the 19th episode of KBS 1TV's 'TV Carries Love,' Kim Chang-ok said, "My father was hearing impaired and never attended school. My mother also never went to school, and my eldest sister finished elementary school. The other sisters graduated from girls' commercial high school," adding, "At that time, it was a source of inferiority. Among the eight members of our family, no one had graduated from college."
He continued, "I took the university entrance exam but failed. I also failed the junior college exam."
After failing to retake the exam, he completed his military service. Later, he explained that he came to Sinchon, Seoul at the age of 24 with a dream of trying music, which he had wanted to pursue since childhood.
Kim Chang-ok said, "I had a severe inferiority complex. My expression must have been much worse. I worked as a dormitory manager and in restaurants while preparing for the music college exam," adding, "I lived here for five months and was admitted to Kyung Hee University's vocal music department."
However, even after entering university, his inferiority complex did not disappear. He recalled, "My classmates had graduated from arts high schools. They all played the piano, but I came from a technical high school. As my inferiority complex worsened, my heart changed my expression. I always kept my eyes tense. I always wore my military uniform."
Now free from the inferiority complex about his academic background, he has become brighter than anyone and his affection for his family has grown.
