‘Popular’ Sunchang Blueberry Farm Harvest Receives ‘Perfect Score’
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] The Agricultural Technology Center of Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 19th that the blueberry farm leased to urban residents has been successfully leased out and harvesting has begun.
According to the county, to allow urban residents to experience blueberries and promote various local tourist attractions, the blueberry farm leasing has been conducted annually since 2016. As a result, more than 3,000 people visit Sunchang each year.
This year's blueberry farm leasing applications were processed on a first-come, first-served basis through the website, and within 15 minutes of the start of registration, all 175 individual plots and 2 youth leased farms were fully leased.
The leased farms, which began their first harvest on the 16th, allow urban residents to enjoy the joy of harvesting blueberries from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Visitors to the farm are also encouraged to wear masks to respond to the risk of spreading COVID-19.
This year, the blueberry crop condition is very favorable, and leased farm owners are expected to enjoy the joy of a large harvest.
The county Agricultural Technology Center plans to enhance the leased farms into tourist farms and improve the brand of local agricultural products through continuous operation in the future.
