Guro-gu, Online Training for Developing Reading Discussion Leaders
Education Postponed Due to COVID-19 Held via Real-Time Video Lectures... Ongoing Until July 20
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) will operate reading discussion leader training education online.
Guro-gu announced on the 19th that the reading discussion leader training education, originally scheduled to be conducted offline from March, will be changed to online video lectures due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The "Reading Discussion Leader Training Education" was prepared to activate the reading club network and expand the culture of reading discussions. Graduates of the education will act as reading discussion leaders in reading clubs operated at public libraries, small libraries, and schools.
The online lectures will be conducted by Seomigyeong, an instructor from the Korea Reading Research Institute. Twenty-one people, including reading club members and residents, will receive the education.
The education program consists of reading discussion theory, questioning methods by cognitive stages, and reading discussion leader facilitation methods. Reading discussions will also be conducted on books read in advance before class, such as "2020 Guro's Book."
The education will be held six times every Monday until July 20, and students can participate from their desired locations using laptops, mobile phones, etc.
Guro-gu plans to change to phased offline lectures according to the situation when the infectious disease crisis alert level is lowered.
