Beijing Reports 21 New COVID-19 Cases... 158 Patients Under Treatment (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Correspondent Park Sun-mi] On the 17th, 21 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Beijing in one day.
On the 18th, the National Health Commission of China announced that as of 0:00 on that day, 28 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in China. Four of these were imported cases infected overseas and brought into China. The remaining 24 cases were locally transmitted within mainland China, with 21 of them reported in Beijing. Additional cases were also confirmed in neighboring Hebei Province (2 cases) and Tianjin City (1 case).
The 21 newly confirmed cases in Beijing were reported in areas including Fengtai District (14 cases), where the largest agricultural and aquatic products wholesale market, Xinfadi Market, is located, Daxing District (6 cases), and Haidian District (1 case).

In Beijing, besides the 21 new confirmed cases on this day, 3 suspected cases and 3 asymptomatic infections were also reported. Since the first new COVID-19 case was confirmed at Xinfadi Market on the 11th, a total of 158 patients have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are receiving treatment in Beijing. Separately, there are 15 asymptomatic infections being tracked.
