LGU+ Sells Agricultural Products Untact to Donate to Disaster Relief Association
'U+Road Online Market' Held to Support Affected Farms
Half of Sales, 48 Million Won, Raised as Separate Fund for Donations
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus announced on the 18th that it has donated the profits earned from its online marketplace to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support farms affected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
From April 29, LG Uplus held the ‘U+ Road Online Market’ every Wednesday for eight weeks, selling agricultural products such as Sinan green onions, fresh onions, sweet potatoes, and cherry tomatoes at special prices. A total of 20,000 people participated, and the prepared quantities were sold out within 20 minutes on some occasions.
LG Uplus donated 48 million KRW, which is half of the sales from the U+ Road Online Market, as a separate fund. The donated amount will be used to overcome COVID-19.
Park Hyung-il, Executive Vice President and Chief Reputation Officer (CRO) of LG Uplus, said, “Through the U+ Road Online Market, many customers participated in ‘good consumption,’ expanding sales channels for farms in difficulty, proving that we can overcome this together. We will continue to consider the responsibilities and roles of the company through various social contribution activities.”
