Only 20 Koreans Visited Japan Last Month, the Lowest Ever Recorded
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The number of Koreans who visited Japan last month was recorded at only 20. Due to entry restrictions caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the number of Koreans visiting Japan dropped to an all-time low.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced on the 17th that the number of foreign visitors to Japan last month was 1,700, the lowest monthly figure since related statistics began in 1964.
By country, the number of visitors to Japan was highest from the United States with 50, followed by China (30), India (30), Korea (20), and France (20).
In May of last year, the number of Koreans visiting Japan reached 603,394, but it has decreased by nearly 100%. The total number of foreign visitors to Japan in May last year was 2,773,091.

The Japanese government is currently refusing entry to foreigners from about 111 countries and regions worldwide, including Korea, to prevent the spread of infection.
