Solo Election of National Assembly Standing Committee Chairs by the Yeo Party, Half of the Public Say "Well Done"

According to Realmeter's survey commissioned by OhmyNews on the 16th regarding the consensus on the Democratic Party's unilateral election of National Assembly standing committee chairpersons, 52.4% agreed with the opinion that it was a good decision for 'complying with the National Assembly Act and fulfilling the role of the National Assembly,' while 37.5% agreed with the opinion that it was a bad decision due to 'ignoring the consensus practice and depriving the opposition party's means of checking the ruling party,' the agency announced on the 17th. Those who responded 'don't know' accounted for 10.1%.
By age group, the highest agreement with the 'good decision' opinion was among those in their 40s at 68.6%, followed by those in their 50s at 59.1%. Among those in their 60s (good decision 44.8% vs bad decision 49.9%) and those aged 70 and above (31.2% vs 31.6%), the two opinions were evenly split. Among those aged 70 and above, the 'don't know' response was 37.2%, a higher rate compared to other age groups.
By region, the 'good decision' response was higher than average at 70.6% in Gwangju and Jeolla, while in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (good decision 45.4% vs bad decision 47.9%), the consensus was evenly divided. In Daegu and Gyeongbuk, the 'don't know' response was relatively high at 19.5%.
By political party support, the Democratic Party supporters (81.4%) and Open Democratic Party supporters (77.2%) showed high agreement with the 'good decision' opinion, while the United Future Party supporters (81.5%) showed high agreement with the 'bad decision' opinion. Among the non-partisan group, the most common response was 'bad decision' (47.5%), followed by 'don't know' (32.7%) and 'good decision' (19.8%).
By ideological tendency, the progressive group (69.9%) and moderate group (54.9%) showed more than half agreeing with the 'good decision' response, whereas the conservative group showed 61.9% agreeing with the 'bad decision' response.

This survey contacted 9,777 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 5.2%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
