[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] In the Gyeongbuk region, no new cases of COVID-19 have been reported for eleven consecutive days as of 0:00 on the 17th.
After no local infections were reported for eight days from May 27 to June 3, sporadic cases of 1 to 2 confirmed patients appeared in Yeongcheon and Gumi from June 4 to 6, but the situation has calmed down again since the 7th. The 11 consecutive days without confirmed cases is the longest record since the first confirmed case in Gyeongbuk on February 19.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 17th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases remained at 1,341 as of 0:00, the same as the previous day. The number of recovered patients also remained at 1,266 (recovery rate 94.40%), unchanged from the previous day.
The number of deaths in the Gyeongbuk region remains at 58. The 17 confirmed patients who have not yet recovered are receiving distributed treatment at Pohang Medical Center (7), Andong Medical Center (5), Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital (4), and National Medical Center (1).
