Cat Corpses Found Consecutively in Gwanak-gu, Seoul... Police Launch Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] In Gwanak-gu, Seoul, several cat carcasses in a gruesome state have been found consecutively, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced on the 16th that they are investigating under the Animal Protection Act after receiving reports last month of multiple cat carcasses presumed to have been killed found in welfare facilities and parking lots within Gwanak-gu.
According to the police, at around 4:30 a.m. on the 22nd of last month, a cat carcass with a damaged abdomen was found near a welfare center in Nangok-dong, Gwanak-gu. The cat was reported to have been pregnant. On the 30th of the same month, a kitten with a damaged right hind leg was found dead in a parking lot in Sinsa-dong, Gwanak-gu.
A representative from the Gwanak Street Cat Protection Association, which requested the police investigation, stated, "In addition to the two cases for which we requested an investigation, there were two more cat carcasses brutally killed near the crime scenes in March alone."
