According to Worldometer, which provides real-time statistics on COVID-19 infections as of the 15th, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has risen by more than 23,000 to 8,008,391.
The number of confirmed cases exceeded 1 million within 3 months after the first outbreak was reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China at the end of last year, and surged eightfold within 2 months. As confirmed cases continue to emerge worldwide, the rate of increase is becoming steeper. The death toll rose by 674 from the previous day to 435,856.
By country, the United States has the highest number with 2,166,228 cases. It is followed by Brazil with 860,000, Russia with 530,000, India with 330,000, the United Kingdom with 290,000, and Spain with 290,000. South Korea ranks 56th with 12,121 cases.
