Ajou University Startup Education Collaborates with Professional Management Group from LG Group

Collaboration with university students starting businesses using veteran managers' know-how and experience

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Ajou University announced on the 15th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Angel Six Plus Co., Ltd., a startup support company composed of professional managers from LG Group.
Angel Six Plus was launched at the end of last year by professional managers who held key positions, including CEO, at LG Group, coming together to create a startup support company.
Ajou University and Angel Six Plus signed the MOU on the 8th at Ajou University’s Yeonam Hall. The signing ceremony was attended by Park Jinsoo, CEO of Angel Six Plus and former Vice Chairman of LG Chem, Kang Kyungran, Ajou University LINC+ Deputy Director of Educational Innovation and Director of the Creative Industry-Academic Education Center, along with other officials from both sides.
Angel Six Plus includes Shin Moonbeom, former President of LG Electronics, as CEO, along with ▲Park Jinsoo, former Vice Chairman of LG Chem ▲Yoo Jinnyoung, former President of LG Chem ▲Lee Woojong, former President of LG Electronics ▲Park Jongseok, former President of LG Innotek ▲Kim Jongrip, former President of G2R, who serve as co-CEOs. Former LG Electronics Executive Director Kim Jaeryong serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO), and former LG Electronics Executive Director Kang Baegun serves as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).
Angel Six Plus was established with the goal of supporting the growth of emerging entrepreneurs based on the members’ expertise and field experience. Their ambition is to assist in discovering, nurturing, and investing in new businesses, providing corporate consulting, mentoring and support across all areas of startup incubation, and connecting startups with investors.
Based on this agreement, Ajou University and Angel Six Plus will form startup clubs to jointly support the growth and development of students who take on challenges.
They plan to provide students who are building their own careers with information related to the global business environment and entrepreneurship, offer consulting and solutions, and support them in becoming successful companies. Additionally, they will form a consultative body to facilitate personnel exchanges between the two institutions.
Following the signing ceremony, a meeting was held between veteran business seniors and outstanding startup club students from Ajou University. The students shared difficulties encountered during the actual startup process and received practical advice from seniors on investment attraction, human networks, and infrastructure.
Shin Moonbeom, the first graduate of Ajou University and former President of LG Electronics and LG Sports, met with juniors and said, “I am proud of juniors who challenge new fields based on innovative ideas and technologies,” adding, “I will work hard to provide the help they need.”
Park Jinsoo, CEO of Angel Six Plus and former Vice Chairman of LG Chem with over 40 years of experience in the chemical industry, said, “Professional managers who have worked in various fields of LG Group have come together to provide practical help to entrepreneurs taking on new challenges,” and added, “We will actively participate in industry-academic cooperation including startup support based on the members’ expertise.”
Kang Kyungran, Ajou University LINC+ Deputy Director of Educational Innovation, said, “Ajou University has made significant achievements through the LINC project in 2014 and the LINC+ project in 2017 to promote startup education and industry-academic cooperation,” and added, “However, there were limits to supporting student startups with university resources alone, so cooperating with experts who have diverse experience in the industry is a great strength.”

Additionally, a ‘Startup Advisory Group’ composed of experts in management, technology, taxation, accounting, and law has been formed to help students start businesses based on their ideas alone.
