KOSPI Falls 1%... Weakness Amid Joint Selling by Institutions and Foreigners
KOSDAQ Also Declines... Falls Below 740 Level
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI index fell by about 1%. Concerns over the resurgence of COVID-19 appear to have influenced the simultaneous selling by institutions and foreigners.
As of 10:06 a.m. on the 15th, the KOSPI index recorded 2,114.66, down 0.83% (17.63 points) from the previous session. At 10:02 a.m., it dropped to 2,108.89, down 1.1% from the previous trading day, breaking below the 2,110 level. This is interpreted as a result of tightened investor sentiment amid growing concerns about the resurgence of COVID-19, especially in the United States.
On the day, foreigners and institutions sold a net amount of 171.9 billion KRW and 345.4 billion KRW, respectively, in the KOSPI market. In contrast, individuals bought a net amount of 512.6 billion KRW, supporting the index decline.
The KOSDAQ also continued its downward trend, breaking below the 740 level. At the same time, it recorded 738.12, down 1.06% (7.94 points) from the previous session. It even dropped to 734.43 in the early trading hours.
