Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Education for Foreigners
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Moon Gisik) announced on the 15th that it is conducting fire safety education for foreigners using foreign instructors.
To this end, Gwangsan Fire Station selected 20 residents speaking 9 different languages including Chinese, Mongolian, and Vietnamese.
The number of foreigners residing in the Gwangju area, such as multicultural families, international students, and foreign workers, is gradually increasing. As of last year, the number of registered foreigners in Gwangsan-gu was 13,461, accounting for more than half (59%) of the registered foreigners in Gwangju City.
Accordingly, Gwangsan Fire Station plans to involve foreign residents who can speak Korean as assistant instructors during fire safety education sessions to expand opportunities for safety education and accessibility to experiential training for foreigners.
