KOICA, Online Pilot Training Aligned with the Untact Era
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) is promoting online education to share South Korea's development experience and technology in line with the untact era caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
From the 12th to the 24th, KOICA will conduct a global online pilot training program titled "Capacity Building for International Cooperation Educators for Peacebuilding in Asia" in partnership with Seoul Cyber University. This training, aimed at strengthening Cambodia's peace and development education capacity, involves 21 experts from Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Mine Action Victim Support Office, and related civil organizations.
Seoul Cyber University was selected as the partner institution for this online pilot training based on its years of experience and infrastructure in conducting online lectures.
Due to the global spread of COVID-19, KOICA is converting its global training programs, which were previously conducted through invitation and local training, into online training. The online training pilot starting in Cambodia is the first digital contact type training in KOICA's global training program. KOICA plans to expand the results of this training to other online training courses in the future, striving to strengthen human capacity in developing countries even amid the COVID-19 situation.
The upcoming online training consists of ▲ asynchronous video lectures ▲ real-time online seminars ▲ real-time group discussions and assignments. Attendance will be checked through surveys before the lectures and formative assessments after the lectures. For the online seminars, Seoul Cyber University staff will monitor the trainees' participation. Those selected as outstanding trainees through future evaluations will be invited to training programs conducted after the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.
