Jeonju City to Improve Safety at Major Intersections with Heavy Traffic... "We Will Make It Safer~"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Jeonju City has decided to make roads with heavy traffic but high accident risks such as jaywalking safer.
The city announced on the 12th that it will invest a total of 750 million KRW by November to carry out the "2020 Traffic Accident Frequent Area Improvement Project" aimed at reducing traffic accident rates.
This year's improvement project targets six locations: ▲ Hyoja-dong Yeongsaeng High School Intersection ▲ Hyoja-dong Seonneomeo Intersection ▲ Songcheon Station Intersection to Jeonrago Intersection section ▲ Hyoja Bridge Intersection ▲ Chucheondae Bridge North Side Intersection ▲ Pyeonghwa-dong Kkotbatjeongi Four-way Intersection to Samsung Gangnam Apartment Three-way Intersection section.
These roads were identified through investigation and analysis of traffic accident data over the past three years as places where improving the road environment could significantly reduce traffic accidents, or where the National Police Agency and the Road Traffic Authority have requested improvements to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance traffic safety.
In fact, the targeted roads experience heavy traffic congestion during commuting hours, but are known to have high accident risks due to vehicle speeding and pedestrian jaywalking during daytime and nighttime hours.
