On the 12th, United Future Party lawmakers held a press conference at the National Assembly Rotunda, stating, "The Democratic Party's plan to monopolize not only the Speaker of the National Assembly but also the chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is a declaration of one-party dictatorship to the public."
They emphasized, "The 21st National Assembly should be operated through dialogue and compromise, which is the will of the people and the foundation of parliamentary democracy," adding, "The Speaker and the chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee have not been monopolized by one party for 32 years, which is the rule and tradition of the National Assembly."
They continued, "Following the Democratic Party's unilateral election of the Speaker through a solo opening of the National Assembly, we express serious concern and strong opposition to the current threat to unilaterally elect the chairpersons of three standing committees?the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, the Budget and Accounts Committee, and the Strategy and Finance Committee." They added, "The chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is the minimum mechanism to check the unilateral dominance of the ruling party with 177 seats."
