At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Lee said, "Today marks the fourth day past the deadline for electing standing committee chairpersons as stipulated by the National Assembly Act," adding, "Our party has conceded to adjusting the number of members in the standing committees, and we have been negotiating so that the United Future Party can work together with the opening of the National Assembly, but the issue has not yet been resolved."
Lee stated, "We will put an end to the precedent of abusing this to obstruct state administration and the National Assembly," and said, "The Democratic Party has already made a decision. If we can no longer expect reasonable negotiations with the United Future Party, we must carry out our position."
He continued, "A plenary session is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, and I hope the floor leaders will do their best to finalize the composition of the standing committees so that the National Assembly can move out of the 'illegal activity situation' and proceed with the third supplementary budget review to overcome the national crisis."
He added, "I don't think there is time to negotiate and discuss further. I hope the floor leaders will take responsibility and resolve this within today," emphasizing, "No matter how much the United Future Party delays and tries to obstruct as they have in the past, the Democratic Party's 'determination' regarding the 21st National Assembly organization will not change."
Lee said, "Although the COVID-19 infection situation will be overcome within one or two years, the economic impact will last longer," and announced the establishment of the 'Korean New Deal Committee' as a permanent body within the party to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
