GS Shop Introduces Eco-Friendly Delivery Boxes Without Using Color Ink
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Shop announced on the 12th that it will introduce an ‘eco-friendly delivery box’ that does not use color ink and expand eco-friendly packaging.
The newly introduced eco-friendly delivery box is characterized by minimizing the use of ink. The existing delivery boxes were decorated in GS Shop’s brand color, ‘Leaf Green,’ and required two printing processes to apply the color.
In contrast, the eco-friendly delivery box is designed to be printed only once using black ink without using color ink. To minimize ink usage, the size of the GS Shop logo was significantly reduced, and QR codes or unnecessary text printed on the box were removed.
The ‘eco-friendly’ delivery boxes will be applied to general boxes and clothing boxes starting from the 15th, and approximately 3.5 million boxes per year are expected to be replaced with eco-friendly boxes. As a result, the annual use of color ink is expected to decrease by about 1.5 tons or more.
Meanwhile, GS Shop has been actively expanding the use of eco-friendly packaging materials since last year. Previously, for ‘Gyeongju Choibuja House Yoseokgung Galbitang,’ eco-friendly delivery was started using frozen bottled water as a coolant instead of ice packs containing chemical components.
Additionally, lingerie brands such as ‘Cotton Club’ deliver products in reusable pouches (travel bags) instead of paper boxes. Furthermore, paper cushioning materials have been used for combined packaging products ordered through the mobile app, and ‘Finger Boxes’ without adhesives have been in use since March this year.
